So the man of God went back to the old prophet’s house and they sat down together for a meal. But while they were eating, God spoke to the old prophet and told him to give his guest a message.

So the old prophet jumped to his feet and thrust out his finger accusingly at the man of God saying, “You have defied the word of God! You ate and drank when you were told not to. For that, you will not be buried with your ancestors for you will die before you get home.”

After the outburst, the old prophet sad back down and said, “Sorry about that everyone. Go ahead and finish your meals.” But it wasn’t quite the same atmosphere and the man of God had a very unsettling feeling of dread.

After they finished eating, the old prophet saddled his donkey and gave it to his guest. So the man of God headed off towards his home in Judah.
