This happened while the Israelites were camped in the wilderness. Early
one morning, as the sun was rising, a young Israelite man woke up after a good, restful sleep. He
stretched and looked outside. It looked like it was going to be a pretty nice day. His family was going to make a special meal
that evening, so he knew they would need wood for the fire.
They hadn’t planned ahead very well and had run out of wood the previous night.
On any other day of the week, this wouldn't be a problem. But this was
the Sabbath. “Oh well,” the young man thought, “I'll
get an early start and be back with the wood before anyone knows I've
gone."
He dressed hurriedly and headed outside. Unfortunately, though, he
wasn't the only one up early that morning…
