His accusers dragged the man outside the camp, but he was a bit of a handful by now because he was screaming and trying frantically to get away. He kept yelling things like, “There must be some mistake!” and, “This is insane!” But it was all in vain. God had spoken. So they stripped him to the waist and tied his hands to a pole.

The news spread quickly throughout the camp and soon word reached his own family.

They were shocked and panicked. His mother ran frantically to see what was going on. When she reached the edge of the camp, she could see the lonely figure of her son tied up to the pole. As she approached, he turned towards her. His heart sank even further as he saw the sadness in her face. Her lips trembled as she spoke. "How could this have happened?" she said, wiping her tears as they ran down her cheek. They both looked into each other's eyes. "I'm so sorry, Mom" he whispered. "I know it was stupid of me. I know I've let you down. But, I just wanted us to have enough wood for tonight. Tell everyone I love them. And remember, I love you too, Mom."
