The Evils of Arithmetic
The Story of David's Census |
|
God heard David's plea for forgiveness, but was not moved. He sent his prophet, Gad, to tell David what his punishment would be. Gad gave David three options: three years of famine, three months of being chased by his enemies, or three days of plague.
David was afraid that he might die at the hands of his enemies so he didn't want the second option. But he couldn't choose between the famine or the plague. Finally David put his faith and trust in God and told Gad the seer that, since the Lord was so merciful, kind-hearted, and loving, he would let God choose the punishment Himself.
